Using the VideoDJ software Arkaos GrandVJ it is possible to link every
channel and button on the Tenori ON to a Visual,
and get that visual to play in time to the changes.

The complete breakdown of the above video :-

Yamaha Tenori-On
Yamaha Tenori-On

The piece was composed entirely on the Yamaha Tenori-ON and
recorded internally using the original sounds.

Steinberg Cubase Studio 4
Steinberg Cubase Studio 4

Exported the whole piece using Steinberg Cubase Studio 4 to record the output
as a midi.

Split the midi into its 10 individual midi channels.(Cubase midi dissolve option)

Propellerhead Reason 4
Propellerhead Reason 4

Remixed it in Propellerhead Reason 4 to produce a better sounding and mixed track
(saved as a WAV)

Inside Cubase the WAV was introduced as a track of Audio.and aligned to the midi
(this would be the resulting sound)

Using Arkaso GrandVJ - every midi channel and all 16 buttons were linked to a
16x16 matrix. Visual include some presets and various sources around the web.
The spinning Tenori in the background was recorded playing the actual piece on
an iPhone 3GS and the video mapped to a cube inside GrandVJ.

GrandVJ Template (Download VJT file Zipped)

Various visuals were attached to the 16x16 grid (not all of them)

Playing the piece in Cubase produced the Video output

ACA Capture Pro        Morgan MJPEG Codec
ACA Capture Pro   &   Morgan MJPEG Codec

Using Screen capture program ACA Capture Pro running (Morgan M-JPEG codec)
a 640x480 resolution video (30fps) was recorded straight from the Master window on
GrandVJ (not the full Screen -cant do this yet as a Uber-Fast-Hard Disk/Computer
would be required.)
File size 1000Mb

SCREEN CAPTURE IS NOW ALOT EASIER USING FRAP - THIS IS ABLE TO CAPTURE EVEN UPTO HD RESOLUTIONS AND DOESN'T REQUIRE 2 SEPERATES SETUPS.

VirtualDUB & DivX
VirtualDUB  &   DivX

The resulting file was converted, using VirtualDUB, to a and a high quality DivX
(smaller in size than Morgan Codec) - The reason for this process is that while the
DivX is fast, it cant keep up on high quality in real-time, and produces a rather
poor / jerky quality video. - Also because of GrandVJ Master window not being
completely correct ration, the DivX was forced to output at 640x360 to compensate
File Size now 70Mb

Sony Vegas Pro
Sony Vegas Pro

The above DivX and WAV file from earlier are put into Sony Vegas Pro and
synchronized. Added Intro and Extro Graphics. Rendered the whole piece to mp4
(YouTube settings)
File Size now 30Mb
